BEIJING, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's last medal hope, taekwondo lass Che Chew Chan, is all wound up for an aggressive launch into her Olympics bid tomorrow which starts with meeting an old foe, Evgeniya Karimova of Uzbekistan, in the opening round of the above 67kg class.

1500 hours- Che Chew Chan who won her last 16 match will fight in the quarterfinals of the women's under 67kg. If she wins, she will be one step closer to Malaysia second medal. She is our last hope. Malaysia best medal haul was in 1996 Atlanta when they got 1 silver and 1 bronze thanks to man doubles and singles respectively.

Malaysia are seriously bidding for the 2020 olympics. The question is whether it will be a joint bid with Singapore or an individual bid. By the way, every olympics, one sport is taken away and one is added. This year the 1km cycling time trial was taken away and the BMX bike was added. IOC is planning to take away badminton from the 2016 olympics. So Malaysia better find excellent athletes in the five core sports: Track and field, swimming, gymnastics, archery and wrestling.

But badminton is a popular sport.. so how can they remove it.. but at 2016, theres no guaranty tht malaysia's badminton is anywhere in d top 10..
look at our ministry of sports.. haha
hey olympics, thanks for d info!! i didnt know they give and take!! :)

BEIJING (AP)—A Cuban taekwondo athlete and his coach were banned for life after Angel Matos kicked the referee in the face following his bronze-medal match disqualification.

Cuban coach Leudis Gonzalez offered no apology for Matos’ actions during the men’s over-80 kg (176 pounds) match.

Matos was winning 3-2, with 1:02 in the second round, when he fell to the mat after being hit by his opponent, Kazakhstan’s Arman Chilmanov. He was sitting there, awaiting medical attention, when he was disqualified for taking too much injury time. Fighters get one minute, and Matos was disqualified when his time ran out.

Badminton is only a popular sport in Commonwealth countries. Even then, it is hardly publicised else where other than Indonesia, Malaysia, Denmark and China.
They only give and take sports which they feel should be replaced. However, they will never comprimise the five core sports as it is part of olympic tradition.

Cuban taekwondo fighter claims his Kazakhstan opponent offered to buy the match but he refused. Futhermore, he broke his toe. Referee should have been more understanding. I think referee was bought over after the cuban Angel refused the offer.
China might lose 9 gold medals if the gymnast are proven to be guilty of age faking. Although many have proven the age to be under 16, China will probably issue fake birth certs to escape. China do not deserve to lead the medal tally as they are not passionate and just want to win!

ooh.. begitu rupanya.haha chinese fellas always trying to win no matter wat eh.. lolz. Whens Thomas Cup? anybody?

I hope this is soon enough. Malaysian A1GP (World Cup of Motorsports) team is doing extremely well. They have won the first race of the season spearheaded by Fairuz Fauzy, (not pretty boy Alex Yoong). They are currently joints leaders with France in the championship. Malaysia is hosting its own A1gp race in mid November for only RM50. Be sure to spend your holidays supporting them.
