Happy New Year Lasallians. The last 4 days in your life was great,
the next 361 days will be wonderful
Lasallian brothers and sisters, today the 5th of January 2009 is the 50th Anniversary of our school.
LSPJ was founded on the 5th of Jan 1959; the day I reported to Standard 1 in Trenquerah English School, Malacca.

We're celebrating our Golden Jubilee on the 10th of Jan 2009. All old boys and girls are invited to school. I do not know what exactly the school has organised for the day but we're all invited. Please pass the word around.

I sincerely would like to see many of our Lasalle brothers and sisters
on that day. The school has a new coat of paint. Thanks Pubalan and gang. The colour of our walls; well very, very Lasallian. Thanks.

The caricature was done by one of the cutest Lasallian ever passed the LSPJ gates. She was puny too. We have many talents in school; including those who can take this world for a ride. God bless them all.

My trip to India; well I'll come with more details later.

Miss all of you and most of of all the BLOG. I felt like I was cut off from the world. The blog has created a great impact on many, including ex-teachers of LSPJ. They 'slipped' in their conversation, admitting reading the blog whenever time permits. So boys your clientile is very, very broard.

See you later. Bai.

Always glad to hear from you Sir.
Whenever I read something you wrote, whatever it may be.. I always manage to find wisdom in it.

Lasallians, see on the 10th at 8.30am. Well we're never punctual. Boys like to come late to school, a thrill; the 'F-Troop' never came in their way. "So what, F-Troop F-Troop lah". I used to study the body language of our 'boys' in F-Troop; only for the girls, the others enjoy it. Something like HISTORY IN THE MAKING in LSPJ. At one point or other they want to tell their friends one day that F-Troop was fun.

"That day ............" So, our boys love to be in F-Troop, at least once in the life of LSPJ. Something to talk about over a glass of chilled beer, one day.

Through F-Troop, we try to preach the values of being punctual and being tidy and neat. Punctuality, well we are a far cry from
perfection; but when we assume a position in society/career we tend to punctual. But still not on the dot. But nevertheless we're trying.

Just spend one morning at the main gate and see how many teachers drive in late to school; they have not got over their years in school.
There's a saying "habits in the cradle is brought to the grave".

So Lasallians lets be "more" punctual and see you at 8.30 in the morning. Bai.

Anonymous said...

See everyone at 8.30 tomorrow! I'll be there on time. But sometimes I just dont get it.. for the slightest thing, some of my friends never ever came on time. Habits habits...sigh.
thanks Mr.Raj.

Anonymous said...

8.30? I thought it was 7.45??
but oh well, 8.30 is better than 7.45. hahaha

Anonymous said...

Im not sure if i can make it tomorrow. Im sorry but I'll try my best. Good night all.

Anonymous said...

Sorry I couldnt make it too.
anyway, got church tomorrow. Always supporting Mr.Raj.
bye

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

WOW!! its like my first time here and MR Raj has so much support even after you left lspj. I heard you done alot for the school.
its always good to keep in touch with the boys. things are so much more convenient nowadays.

10th Jan 2009. I was in school at 8.05am, within minutes I was shaking hands with every other boy and wishing "Happy New Year". I could see the gleam in their eyes of "miss you shit", "hai, great to see you" and "podah, it's great to see you again".

I was holding back the "waterfall" like a strong 'bouncer' would. The
boys looked the same, no change, habits die hard. In the hall, everyone shook hands and we felt very welcomed.

The spirit of La Salle was strong, especially amongst the retired teachers. We're meeting some after about 10 to 15 years. There was no barriers; may it be on racial or religious or cultural or colour. We
came as Lasallians and left like Lasallians. The present teachers should have seen the bond and felt the vibrations in the meeting room.

I met the 'older' old boys, but the present old boys were missing. Why?

The activities of the day was
'nothing' to boast about except
for the La Salle play. The others was "shock sendiri". I was quite dejected with the activities of the day. Secondly, was disappointed
with the absence of the school; only a handful was present and most of them were from Form 1. It should have been done on a normal school day in the presence of the school; on the tarmac I presume.

There are many roads to heaven, they chose the road which I would not use. One man's "mee hoon" is another man's "char kuay teow".

Well boys keep in touch with the blog eveyday and our "La Salle blogger" will keep you informed of the latest activities lined up for the Golden Jubilee. Let's throw our support. Bai.

Anonymous said...

Mr Raj really gets the respect from the boys.. for those who kena slap would feel tak puas and all.. but after a little while.. love again!!
My classmates and I used to run like hell when we heard "Raj datang"..
Coz most of the time we were outside of class or in the wrong class.. good old days.

Anonymous said...

Best teacher in Kelantan and Pj.. and some say "The Best" in Mahsa.

Anonymous said...

Dai. what slap? Who slap? That was the touch of human kindness. Boys are tough, so act toughlah. Actually, I only look tough; talk tough; behave tough but, but, but, but, I ain't tough. All a show. K.

But the second day in La Salle, I ran after an Indian boy across Jln Gasing from the primary school bus stop to Tmn Jaya washroom. The guy hid himself in the toilet, I had a bucketful of water thrown into the bay. He came out totally drenched. I gave him maximum; he met me after his SPM exams and thanked me. If not for the tender loving care, he would not have come to school anymore.

Nurses!!!!!! Come and see it yourself. Food and drinks on me.

Bai.

Anonymous said...

It's the first time Im hearing that story. But while walking to school last time, my friends would walk pass me and say : If Raj ask, say you didn't see me!!

Your character was always so unpredictable.. I mean one minute you could be yelling at some boys and the next minute telling dirty jokes. haha
It was fun!!

Anonymous said...

I remember Mr.Raj would go for his morning walks around the school at about 7.15am or so... The guys smoking and ponteng-ing would have to move and find a 'safer' spot. haha
Sir, so when is Pn. Lilly coming back?
Things are getting worst around here. It's a confederation of loose tribes amongst teachers.
It's not like when you were around, you had a desk in the staffroom where Mr. Thiraviam took over.. you had always been close with the teachers and students.
Lost that kind of feeling now.

Anonymous said...

Co-curricular activities:
One of Mr.Raj's favorite words : "Why Not?"

But now in school its : "Cannot"

cannot this.. cannot that...

Anonymous said...

is this really mr raj>?

Anonymous said...

Of course.. who else could and would write like him?
The one and only Mr. Raj

Anonymous said...

Long live LSPJ !!
long live Mr. Raj!

Anonymous said...

Good morning Boys. I'm the same Raj
the Raj who was referred to as
"Thai Khor" or I overhead one day at the primary bus stop as the 'La Salle Gangster'. This boy was getting down from his father's car,
he saw me standing at the bus stop,
he opened the door and told his father, "here's the La Salle gangster". The father smiled and he left. If only my son had said that of his principal I would've slapped him, but my son wouldn't say such a thing. The father would have been arrogant, rude or lost his sense of morals; thus his son behaves exactly what the father was. Like father like son.

In another instance, the son was jumping in my room pleading his father to slap me. He even went to the extent saying "What a father I have." "You're hopeless." "Stupid"

Imagine a son cursing a father. That only reflects the father he has. The father was very apologetic. If that was my son"God help him".

These are trials and tribulations we have to ungo as principals. Will pen in later. Bai. Work man work.

Madhu is a rather quiet boy in school.. it seems so anyway.
well mannered. But Im not sure about his temper... haha

Anonymous said...

Yeah I heard your nickname
"The gangster of La Salle" many times. haha. But it was necessary.
Sometimes, we fight fire with fire.

Anonymous said...

Fire with fire.. we're talking bout Lasallians. No choice!! haha
Right sir?

Anonymous said...

Boys, "fight fire with fire". Well that is life, and life must go on.

My son Madhu, well,a little "high strung" like his father. genetic factor. I,ll advise him.

Mahsa College, well I call it quits
'cos I'm leaving Mahsa. Can't keep up with the tempo. You can't beat them, don't join them.

So boys, I,ll start tuition classes in PJ and go back to the trade I'm a master, back to teaching or open a mini restaurant.
I'm gifted with the trade called cooking; I picked up from my mother
so see you all in PJ. Will hear from me later.

Ya! Wishing all my Boys a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year.

Anonymous said...

Wow!! leaving already? Restaurant sounds great!! 10% off for lasallians. hahaa

hi sir !

its so much of fun just reading the posts here..it like back to school once again...

these guys will never change.. its so true : once a lasallian always a lasallian.

we really appreciate all the things u have done for the school sir..i was there for less than 2 years but its the most memorable years of my entire school life!

Anonymous said...

Rubini.. you are the one who went to Indonesia after form 6 is it? :)

Anonymous said...

Hai BGoys. I'm back after a month in the "North Pole". I was busy setting up the mini-restaurant.

I threw my resignation letter on the 30th of Jan; hasty it may be but a brave decision and also a "no-nonsense" decision. As I said earlier in the post, " I love to work, and I work hard, give everything for the day and come back home satisfied, whistling all the way home saying, 'gaji saya halal' - I have worked for my pay and I deserved the pay."

But, Mahsa, wants to make money not bothered about the human factor. An organisation should motivate and appreciate its staff. In La Salle, staff who have taken maximum MC's and who goes MIA are appreciated and honoured too.

La Salle, you've got a Principal called Pn Vasu. BGoys, please give your 110% support and obedience. She'll keep you next to her heart and will perform her best for La Salle. We'll have her for the next 2yrs 3 mts and that'll be her best years in the education service. I hope Lasallians will give your undivided support and love for the school, to make it easy for Pn Vasu to concentrate in her duties and bring the school to greater heights. WELCOME PN VASU.

BGoys, my mini-restaurant is along Jln Pencala, walking distance from the futsal stadium at Pan Global.
It is 20m from the Jln Pencala/ Old Town Market Road. If you love INDIAN Food, not Mamak Food K, only Indian Food please do come to my mini-restaurant. The discount stays, 10% 15% 20%. It's open Mondays to Saturdays, 7am to 4pm.

See you all there. Give me a call before you come. Bai.

Anonymous said...

Wah seriously mr Raj? I mean do you do the cooking? Congratulations sir!!

Anonymous said...

SIr is it near the Indian shop that sells beer and all the booze.. right opposite a small playground?

Anonymous said...

Hello Mr Raj!!
whats Bgoys? hahahaa
Near Campbell soup right.
Yeah it must be so different in the private sector.. And in the government sector, those who are hardworking.. they become the outcast..sad isnt it..
Hope to see you soon.
God bless

Anonymous said...

HI MR Raj. congrats!!

Anonymous said...

Bgoys. 'Boys and girls', About 10% of Lasallians are girls; that's why 'g' came in between boys.

My stall is doing fine. Good Indian food. I'm not a fanatic but when I say Indian food, means, I can cook what I know best and since I can cook I can control the cooking of my cook from India. As one of my Chinese clients said, the stall is the best Indian food outlet in Wilayah and Selangor outside Brickfields.

My menu:
Monday : Kurma
Tuesday : Chicken 65 and
Chili Chicken
Wednesday : Nasi Briyani
Thursday : Sea Food
Friday : Vegetarian Special
Saturday : Mutton Bone Curry
Sunday : Fish Head Curry and
Crabs (planning)

I'm also planning to open a 'Fine Dining' restaurant in Sri Hartamas.
Wine and Beer will be served with lunch and dinner. Need, lots and lots of capital. But I think I will succeed. There's a will, definitely there'll be a way.
Have been working on this project for a couple of weeks.

Hai Bgoys, how's school? Keep our flag flying high, K. I'm proud to be part of the La Salle family.

Bai.

Anonymous said...

HI sir, good to hear from you
again. That is a vast variety you serve. but wouldn't traveling to both your outlets and keeping an eye on them be a headache?
Just my thought.. Good luck with it sir. bye

Anonymous said...

MR Raj, will you please comment on studnts cheating during exams.
Thank you and all the best in your restaurant.

raj said...

Hai Bgoys. After a long absence I'm back to pen a few lines about life, La Salle and you.

Many boys, girls, old boys and old girls have visited me in the stall.
Teachers too. Many enjoyed my food,
some old boys are hooked to my food. I try to give them my best.

Many boys seek my advice as to the direction after their SPM and STPM
results. Well, they leave me contented/happy/at peace.

The canteen day was a success
with a great turnout and a reasonable collection. Well the money will be well spent, Pn Vasu will attend to it. She'll carry on from where I've left. Don't worry.

I'll come back to you later. Has to meet a friend. Baai.

raj said...

Hai. La Sallians. 5 Form 5 boys came for lunch; they ate to their heart's content...... nice...nice..
was all the words that came from the "phytons". Ha! Ha!

They had lots and lots of stories about school. They do not seem to be happy with many things. They even mentioned about one "cow" who was expelled to SAS. SAS on the other hand wants to expel him too.

Boys, please 'tow the line' and learn to follow rules and regulations. When you leave school,
you'll have to follow orders and "follow" your superiors. We pick this up in school and internalise these values in our life after school. When you're not happy with the surroundings, try to talk...talk...talk...to solve your problems. Don't resort to resentment...undue stress. Study. You've your exams at the end of the year. Focus, boys, focus.

Nobody's going to shed a tear when you don't perform. They'll say ... try again... hard luck... you could've done better... sorry... I told you... I expected that... you want to be a victim of such remarks
Remarks that'll "eat" up your spirit. Avoid all these...let things go on as it should be; don't
change "the traditions and culture"
KEEP THE SPIRIT OF LA SALLE BURNING
Once a Lasallian is always a Lasallian.

Goodnite.

Anonymous said...

Indeed Sir. Very well said. thank you mr Raj. Hope to visit you soon.

Anonymous said...

Helo mr Raj !!

raj said...

Hai. LaSallians. How was the mid-year exams. Prepared? Well, the answer is "could have prepared". Any copying? I know that LaSallians
will find ways - in their sleeves, notes left in the toilet, bits of paper in their pants, messaging Assunta girls for answers and many more ways which we cannot comprehend. DAI, STOP COPYING. Life will be a photostat copy.

I'll pen off now as I have visitors.

goodnite.

HI,
Mr Raj, Jerald here. My Grandmother told me she met u today at her phisiotherapy clinic.she told me u had a blog and well im glad i have finaly found it after alot of searching.Hope to see u in SMK LSPJ some time!!

raj said...

Yes Jerald, I meet many Lasalle Family members. Your grandmother was very cheerful and friendly. Great woman.

My regards to all members of the Lasallain family.

I see that the blog is not frequented by our boys and girls these days. No time ah? or digging in your books these days?

Brother Lawrence left us to continue his journey in Heaven. We lost a great Brother... he means alot to La Salle P.J. I wonder how many of you appreciate him? Don't take things for granted. His dream (vision and mission) gave birth to La Salle P.J.

The school should honour him.. I don't know how...but something must be done. Think about it boys.

I missed a "Brother", mentor and guiding star.

A couple of years ago, I attended a dinner where he was seated in the main table. I went from behind and hugged him from the back. I said.."Brother, I'm Raj from La Salle P.J." You know what he asked me?

" How's My baby?"

I replied " It is in safe hands. The babysitter is trying his best."

Brother replied "Thanks. Take good care of my baby."

From my short conversation with him I came to realise how important was La Salle P.J. to him.
That motivated me further to put La Salle P.J. in the light.

Well Mr Blogger, erase the old news and put Brother Lawrence and his contributions as the headlines.
Lasallians will pick up something. K.

Will come in later to see the developments. Bai.

Anonymous said...

I appreciate Bro. Lawrence a lot!

Anonymous said...

Dear Sir,

I was a student in the late 70's early 80's but do not recall having you as a teacher. Were you there when Mr. Clements and Mr Jeremiah were around?

You sound like you would have fit right into our culture back then!

raj said...

Deat Lasallians, my deepest respect and love for my my esteemed and honoured "Brother".
Brother Lawrence.

I came to LSPJ in the 1984, from Kota Bharu, Kelantan. I served there for 7 years as a teacher and developed all my coaching skills in track and field. I was an advanced national coach and was the MSSMalaysia chief coach before I came to LSPJ.

I was intentionally placed in LSPJ to develop athletics, not only for the school (by then LSPJ was an icon in the field of sports) but to develop athletics in Selangor and the MoEducation.

I came with a strong foundation in the mission school culture and weaved in the "fabric" of La Salle with ease. Brother Felix, was there to see me mature further with his advice and guidance. My other 'little' mentors were Mr Subra, Wok Kamaliah, Jeremiah, Clement, Rosalind Chong, and many many more senior La Salle teachers.

I also had the priviledge to enjoy my teaching practice in St. Johns in 1976 under Brother Joseph Yeo. I enjoyed St. Johns; and was supposed to be posted there, but God wanted me in Kelantan.

LSPJ built my character and made me a better man; that's why when the school needed me in 2003 (to reshape it), I uprooted myself from a very comfortable life in Malacca to LSPJ. I felt that I had to pay back the school, and the best way was to serve and remodel the school again. TO REVIVE THE CULTURE AND SPIRIT OF LSPJ.

I did my best, my very best. Today I'm very sarisfied with what I did for the school. I TOUCHED THE HEARTS OF ALL LASALLIANS WHO WERE WITH ME IN THE LAST 5 YEARS of my career. I still keep in touch with all Lasallians through this blog.

Thank you blogger. Bai.

Mr. Raj, please send my best wishes to Madhu for his birthday tomorrow. thank you.

lasallepj said...

Dear Mr. Raj,
How are things going at the shop?
I was particularly saddened the past few days by the passing of Bro. Lawrence.
When I had visited him a few months back in Cheras, he was very pleased when I presented him with a copy of LSPJ's 2008 school magazine. He wished to thank everyone who help put it together and he said he wanted to thank you as well.
Just before I left, I presented him with another small gift; a Holy Trinity key chain all the way from the Vatican. Bro. Lawrence was really delighted that day.

raj said...

Thanks Lasallians. That was very touching. The "Brothers" touched my heart and life. Bro Lawrence has passed his role to us; he would expect us to carry on his good deeds to " his children ". We owe him that.

Well, we still have Bro Felix; we can still hang on him for........
Let's focus on Bro Felix for the energy and strength...for LSPJ.

Lasallians, let's get around school more often and see what we can do. More gatherings...more meetings...mouching around school.

OLA please set up an office in school. We need a common place to get together. Bravo OLA.

Ya! The stall; well it's functioning without me. I'm having fun but not making any money. The idea was fun not money. Sept. or Oct. I might go back to work; the stall will run without me. K.

Going out to buy some pizza, my son's birthday. Bai.
