My dearest Lasallian brothers and sisters, as we know, there are those including a renown visionary calling for the boycott of American products, and urging Malaysians working in American companies to resign.
We as Lasallians may empathize with the innocent people being massacred in Palestine. And we bloody should.
But it will be most unwise to boycott Uncle Sam.
Ahh... what if we stop buying Coke from our canteen and stop dining at McDonald's...Would that do any good? The answer is YES !!! For health reasons...
If we impose an embargo on the yankees, It will be The Charge of The Lightheaded Malaysians. we would be digging our own graves as Coke is manufactured by F&N in Malaysia and half of McDonalds is owned by Datuk VK Lingam's friend Tycoon Vincent Tan. Amway? Will Citibank become Shitibank?? One thing I know for sure is with all these jobs lost,we shall have plenty of dust to bite on.
But then again, I'm no economist.. just a Lasallian.

Not that I know of. The local franchisee of McD's is Golden Arches Restaurant owned I think 50% by Tan Sri Vincent Tan and the other half by McDonalds Corp. what jew?

People should not judge the war between Israel and Palestine as a war between religion but rather a war between nations! Others nations SHOULD NOT TAKE SIDES! US's neutral stand is very much acceptable! Malaysia should stop being religionally motivated! After all, religion SHOULD NOT EXCEED PERSONAL GAIN!
Very true.. The US has always used Israel as it's proxy missile base in the Middle East. And for all we know, The US may have given the Israelis nuclear weapons.

Seriously folks, there is plenty of blame to go around in the conflict. Both are at fault and innocent people on both side are being killed. Boycotting the US is not going to do anything. I think the dimwit who suggested that needs to look at the size of the US market and think if a silly little boycott by a insignificant portion of a relatively small country is going to make a difference.
Both sides given the same thing.. One side takes the pile of rock and dirt and makes it into wonderful garden but the other side is whining about the rocks and dirt.. Malaysians should learn to work like a negro and save like a jew.

give Israel a break! I am not being bias. However, I believe Malaysia should not take sides in this conflict but rather keep a neutral position even as a so called Islamic multi racial country. You'll understand the paradoks. Anyway, instead of politicians trying to make a lime light for themselves, WE SHOULD HIGHLIGHT THE CHINKS IN THOSE POLITICIANS THEMSELVES! They are trying to sway us from their misdeeds esp. with Kuala Terengganu under battle!

I'm not much of an economist. Instead, i get pretty confused.
But down to the core, this is a religious war.
The Muslims wouldn't give,

Both are at fault. But in someway I don't blame nations for taking sides. Its a natural human instinct to side the dying innocent and those losing their loved ones. Nothing is more painful than watching your life blow up in front of you, not able to do a thing.
And all we around the world are trying to do is stop it. We don't need a blood spill when agreements can be made. a lot of people say no to this satement but i say yes. anything is possible.
I've said it four times here, and i'll say it again. The pen is stronger than the sword. But then again, I can't change the world. But I can help change one man at a time.
Just spare a little time. Think. Thousands of children losing their future. Snatched of their rights to gain an education. Stolen loved ones. If mercy, acceptance, and love, all the elements of peace is planted somewhere within us, whos side would we be on?
I know for a fact, I;m on these childrens' side.

I firmly believe that religion was created to prevent the world from going into a moral crisis. To prevent us from indulging into unwanted lust and other human indulgence that may cause the downfall of mankind. Religion should not be used as a purpose for anything! Just think carefully, should God exist, God wouldn't really care if we were to practise another religion that what was supposedly true, but rather would want us to behave morally make morally licit decisions in our life. We don't even have to pray at all to achieve this, just have to find the true meaning of our religion! Who cares what religion we come from, it doesn't matter! If you're holy book says people who don't pray to your 'supreme one' is an infidel, so be it! Let them suffer in hell (if God is so irrational as what some holy books are said to claim!) Why are some people trying to play God's role? Well, as an semi-atheist (I believe in all religions and the fact that God may appear in different form's for reason's that human aren't suppose to find out)-the same reason a dog walking in a house is unable to explain why the lights are one moment lit and next turned off-electricity). People, no offence, but being a semi-jew, semi- muslim and all (miss reen) doesn't prove anything as you fail to prove that love conquers religion, for all I know, you're family is not a conservative one. However, please don't consider me a physopath or anything, but for the conservative people who are racist and sexist to realise that the world is one, a disaster must happen. One which creates a crisis that only can be solved through world unity! For the world to escape armamgeddon, RELIGION SHOULD NOT EXCEED PERSONAL GAIN!

First of, I would like to apoligise to miss reen about the whole comparison thing. Secondly, when I said semi-atheism, I didn't say it as a word out of a dictionary but rather a word that I self interpreted. Like how destiny child's interpreted bootylicious, but in a more complicated manner. You may be right about me being derailed and all because when I read my comment again, I realised it could be easily misinterpreted from what I wanted it to be and yes, you're right, religion is sort of the base for war as this war grew from a territorial one to such. My question, however can be more literally put as such: Since you're main concern appears to be CHILDREN and WOMEN losing their future, their dreams and built realities, and the only way war can be ended is through one country meeting the conditions of the other (this could be apocalyptic for either country), isn't the only war possible for a government to protect it's civilians is through retaliating? If anyone could prove this question wrong rationally (without using religion as a criteria), a possible World War 3 could be avoided!
P.S: Thank you miss reen for you're concern. If everyone were like you, I am sure we would be in a better world. (honestly)

Well, Israel fought back to with first priority of dismantling palestine rockets to protect it's civilians. Their main objective for decision to intrude Palestine however, is to make sure HAMAS loses control. More literally, this would mean, destory HAMAS. HAMAS, on the other hand, launched rockets in the first place as a sign of protest because the Israeli government failed to remove a blockade, which their said they would on the 31st of December 2008 as part of a truce agreement. That my dear Reen, is what I mean by retaliation. Everyone wants their interest at heart. Main rule of life.
I myself am personally against HAMAS due to their wrong image of jihaad sculpted in their minds. Fanatically.
However, heres a thought.
HAMAS was founded in the late 80's as we all know. Palestine and Israel have been in a feud for longer than most of us have even been alive. It is true, HAMAS was the first to launch weapons. But here's a little human reaction I'd put as an example for I can't find any better.
Imagine u having a tiny dollhouse built of twigs and toothpicks. As u can see the contrast in shape between a twig and a toothpick. So someone comes along and pulls one twig out. A part of the dollhouse is ruined. So u get angry and tell the person to stop pulling anymore twigs out. He says alright.
But then, he starts pulling the toothpicks out. Again, a natural and immediate reaction of boiling emotions.
So here's my point , apart from just these attacks, in many many many ways, Israel has destroyed Palestinian lives. And this is what we want to put to a stop. Not just these silly attacks that have happened way too many times.
Its inhumane and painful actions that we want to stop.
All they want right now, is a little clear human mindset.
What I believe should be done if the world actually cares about these civilians is grant refugee status to these civilians. The rich Arabs can definitely help the Palestinians and other Israeli allies (Eygpt) can definitely help the Israeli. As far I am concerned, this war will lead one country to its' grave. After all, Mr. Bin Laden has called upon JIHAD to act upon Israel. Will this be the World War 3 that Nostradamus talked about? His time frame was end of 2010 to till 2012!
Arabs would lick the feet of Americans but never help the poor. We've learnt lessons from them. Personal and professional.
